Role of Research in designing my Future Career

I think, from the very first time we chose or we decided to take this course BS Information Technology we already have an insights on what will be our future career. As time goes on and that every one of us had experience lots of obstacles, some of us, if not all had already second thoughts on whether to continue or to shift to other course. But as of now, we are on to the stage of doing a research study in which I am trying to ponder on what is really the role of research in designing my future career? Is it just merely passing the subject and pursue the course?

Lately, as I have been to thinking on what would be my research topic, the first thing that came out into my mind is a question. What is that something that I really want to know more aside from the things that has been taught to us here in the university? (A self centered question but I know would help me a lot in gaining perseverance to do the study) And suddenly an answer came, database system. Since from the very beginning I know from my heart that I really want to dwell on databases though I am having hard time passing my database subjects, I realize that it is good to formulate a topic that would be related to database. My future researches, readings, realizations about my topic would help me a lot if ever in the future I will become a database administrator. Now, I could say that doing a research would play a very big role in conceptualizing our future career.

As an IT what should be my research topic all about?

It is of great advantage for us as an IT student to indulge in research topics that would caught our interest and that would be in relation with our course simply because of the simple reason that it would give us more courage to pursue that study eventhough in future, there would be obstacles that woud challenge the researchers perseverance. For me, perseverance and or courage should have to be the first factor that should have to be considered in doing researches.

And so, those topics most probably i think would be relaed to programming, enhancemet to technology , network and the likes..
